Brandonista Spotlight: Giggi D.

I'm excited to announce a new feature on the blog. Each week I'll be featuring a different Brandonista. What's a Brandonista? A smart & savvy woman rocking the small business world. Today, the spotlight shines on Giggi D., proprietress of Queen of the Madhouse Cosmetics.

Name: Margaret Ciuzelis (aka) Giggi D.X
Business Name: Essence of Raquel Australia t/a Queen of the MaDhouse cosmetics
Occupation: Proprietor/Founder

1. Describe your business in 2 sentences.
High quality cosmetics at an affordable price. Interactive and fun marketing portraying beauty unearthed without shame and plenty of attitude!

 2. How did you come up with your business concept/idea? Quite by accident! Intended to make heel balm for cracked heels but found the consistency of my formula was perfect for lip balm! After tweaking the ingredients I veered to a different direction of making lipsticks and lipbalms as they looked and felt so pretty on. After researching too much capital was required for manufacturing so I decided to search for a supplier of high quality cosmetics and have my own range. What a dream! Not just lipsticks and lipbalms but a whole range ... why not!

The concept and images I had envisioned long ago as I had always loved the fashion and elegance yet somewhat over the top extravagance of the Victoran era. French aristocracy, big, big wigs, bustle gowns and the like mixed with the madness of everday conjured up an image that I utilised with my daughter Raquel thus photographing her for the face of Queen. From a very crazy day at the office when everything and everyone was so frantic. An old term for this was to say 'queen of the madhouse!' when either answering the phone or greeting someone. A tongue in cheek reference to chaos!

3. What are your three superpowers?
1. I'm crazy enough to enliven people with a little stupidity mixed with fun and a sprinkle of lunacy!
2. Making people feel very comfortable around me by being Giggi D.X the Queen of MaDness!
3. Transforming people from a chrysalis to a butterfly when beauty within outshines with colourful magnetism! (My own quote!) by Giggi D.X

4. What's the most valuable piece of advice you've ever received?
Not so much advice but more so the attitude of I will never do it and bring it to fruition. Guess what! I DID!

5. What are your three guilty pleasures?
1. Make Up (of course!) always has been.
2. Shoes (still need more)
3. Anything vintage

6. When they make a movie of your life, which actress will play you?
Meryl Streep because she could portay such a mixed bag of growing in a world that at times was unforgiving. A determination to succeed and do well with so many hurdles. Yet a fantastic warped and funny wit and sense of humour that would liven those around her yet hide what was inside that was killing her in her emotions without anyone knowing.

7. Any words of wisdom for fellow female entrepreneurs?
If you are told anything negative about your ability IGNORE IT - as the person giving that advice isn't worthy of such words. Fight for what you want & GET IT!
